HK Day 4

Went to an optometrist/optician to get a pair of glasses today... the lady was real nice and she used an auto-refractor, trial lenses, and the portable JCC to refract me... the whole process took like ten minutes. There wasn't a foropter (too big, too expensive for a HK optical shop), and the prescription was a lil' off from the 3rd year who did me a week before I left (although she could be wrong as well...), but for $125 you can't really complain, especially with my prescription.

Oh, and World Cup is huge here... and it prompted me to purchase a Holland team jersey. It was either that or the Brazil one, and I chose the Holland one because it has a collar on it, so it looks more like a polo.

HK Day 3

More of the same... although I hung out with my brother's friends from college, and we had some MAD good seafood at North Point (too bad I forgot to take some pics). But yeah, and then we went to some lounge on the 27th floor... the interior designs here are amazing. The lighting, the furnitures, and the ambience... even the simplest fastfood restaurants are exceptionally well designed. Anyway, the next few days is probably going to be more chilling, more walking around the malls, and more eating. My brother and I don't feel like being tourists, so we won't be seeing those tourist attractions. I'll try to take more pics though, and post them up when I'm back home.

HK Day 2

Okay... I'm done shopping. After another day of walking around malls trying to find things... suits don't fit here because men here have tiny shoulders, comics... way too many to choose from (I think I'm just going to get some anime DVDs.. easier to carry)... I'm done. Plus, my cash supply is diminishing. Just going to go with the flow now. Eat, sightsee, and, for today... go chill with my brother's fob friends. And yeah, every time I see my grandma it hits a soft spot. She's losing some hearing, and some short-term memory, and it's just sad. But I'll try to see her everyday I'm here... going to have to breakfast with her now.

HK Day 1

*warning: shopping and eating will be the main theme of this trip
** pics will come later, as soon as I can upload them

It's 7am... just went down to get some coffee (walked past a bunch of grandmas doing tai-chi). I'm staying at my uncle's place at Nam Tin, and he lives on top of the subway station with a shopping plaza so everything is assessible here.

Yesterday I went to visit my grandma, and the place she's living is straight out of the "Young and Dangerous" set. It was emotional to see her... when I was younger she raised me when my parents were working, and I haven't seen her since she visited around 6 years ago. I truly missed her. Also, the frailty of a 86 year-old is striking when it applies to someone you love. I thank God for blessing her with health and vitality at such an advanced age, but I can't help but to think this might be the last time I'll see her. This is why I'm eating dim-sum with her every morning... just to be around. I know my dad has been trying to open the Gospel to her, and perhaps this week I can contribute. We'll see.

After dim-sum with grandma we went shopping, and shopping is all you do here. It's ridiculous how many malls and shops they have here, all over hk. But, if you've been here before, you know that Mongkok is where EVERYTHING is, so we went there to look at stuff. My brother wanted a camera and I had a shopping list to go through (included below), so we went to check out prices. We walked around the whole day, and, during the course of the day we went to this mall that is humongous. Going up the escalator is like going up the ramp on a six-flags ride. To end the day, we had dinner with my dad's side of the family.

End of Finals...

More of james getting it on at the grad party gallery...

Yeah, haven't posted for like a month. My bad. Either I was too lazy or I was studying for finals. The exams themselves were nothing to write home about, BUT, the grad party after... that's something else. I don't have the pics themselves but you can go here to check them out. Currently in Hong Kong, leaving to see grandma and shop. I'll try to post pics throughout the trip...
